Hearty, rich, and packed with flavor, this Turkey Chili brings together lean ground turkey, bold spices, beans, and tomato powder for a thick, savory bowl of comfort. Big chili flavor without the heavy feel.
Step 1 – Brown the Turkey
Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add turkey and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns.
Step 2 – Sauté the Vegetables
Add onion and bell pepper. Cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
Step 3 – Build the Flavor
Add the tomato powder, Mild Chili Powder, cumin, smoked paprika, Mexican oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and cook for about 1 minute.
Step 4 – Create the Chili Base
Gradually stir in 2½ cups chicken broth. Stir well to completely dissolve and hydrate the tomato powder. It will quickly create a rich tomato base.
Step 5 – Add the Beans & Tomatoes
Stir in kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar, if using.
Step 6 – Simmer
Bring to a gentle boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add up to 1 additional cup of chicken broth as needed to reach your preferred consistency.
Step 7 – Finish
Taste and adjust the salt and Mild Chili Powder. Serve with shredded cheddar, sour cream, scallions, avocado, jalapeños, or corn chips.
